As a response to FrederikAJ's "expert" opinion I have to give you an easyread article that clearly states the opposite of his "advice."

I bought a D40 over the D60 as a light option to my D200. Cheaper and takes better pictures. Yes its older and have less paintshop abilities, but then again these things are done on a pc IMHO. Dont get fooled by megapixels - more is not necesarry better. Use the saved cash on better optics for your camera.

Hope you choose what is best for your needs.

Best regards

hmm. I have tryed both cameras... and clearly,,, i find the best D60... I have not made a direckt compare of the pictures, but here later, if i take a look on the d40 pictures and the d60 pictures, i see a BIG difference in quality... Also, the D60 have some extra abillities. but do cost more... I think that it's a personal coice.. u should choose witch are the best for ur needs...! (:

well, if i were you, i would choose between either "Canon" or a "Nikon"... i have a digital reflex camera, a Nikon D60... it's not too expensive and take amazing photos... don't buy Nikon D40.... that sucks... BUT it really depends on how much money you want to spend (:

“Do you worry about the climate change too?”
‘Yes, I find the change between summer and winter rather dreadful…’
